Introduction:

Dimethyl maleate (also known as dimethyl maleate) is a colorless, transparent, oily liquid with a molecular weight of 144.13, a boiling point of 200-210°C, a density of 1.11-1.15 g/cm³ (25°C), and is liquid at room temperature. It is slightly soluble in water (about 77.9 g/L at 20°C) and easily soluble in alcohol and other organic solvents.

Uses:

Dimethyl maleate is an important organic chemical raw material, used as a plasticizer, preservative for fatty oils and raw material for organic synthesis. Dimethyl maleate is used to produce 1,4-butanediol, tetrahydrofuran, γ-butyrolactone, dimethyl succinate, etc. through different catalytic hydrogenation processes. 1,4-butanediol and dimethyl succinate can be further used to produce fully biodegradable plastic polybutylene succinate (PBS).
